Best Paymento alternatives in 2026
Merchants replacing Paymento land on one of three options. Plisio suits merchants who want the same 0.5% non-custodial rate with twelve named assets, privacy coins and a published white-label tier. NOWPayments fits merchants leaving over asset breadth who want 350 currencies into a wallet they control. CoinGate covers businesses that need euro in a bank account from a named regulated entity, at the cost of custody. Rates below reflect published rates checked in August 2026.
Quick verdict

Merchants leaving over asset breadth who want 350 currencies into a wallet they control.
Businesses that need euro in a bank account from a named regulated entity, at the cost of custody.
Small shops that want fiat settlement at a published half a percent and plugins for six platforms.
Why do merchants look for a Paymento alternative?
There is no fiat settlement, so a merchant that needs bank currency carries the price risk until it converts elsewhere. Checked 2026-09-06 against the provider's own page.
The company behind the product states no jurisdiction on its public pages, which matters for a merchant that must explain its providers to a bank. Checked 2026-09-06 against the provider's own page.

What you would be giving up#
A published 0.5% billed against a credit, a starting balance that covers the first few thousand dollars of payments, no merchant verification and funds that never touch the provider. That is a light and cheap arrangement, and two of the four replacements are heavier by design.
The two that keep custody with you, Plisio and NOWPayments, keep the property that matters most. The two that offer fiat take custody in exchange for it, and the custody guide sets out what that trade costs.
If fiat was the reason#
A non-custodial provider cannot settle fiat, because it never holds anything to convert. A merchant leaving for a bank leg is leaving the model, not the provider, and should read the two custodial picks as a different category rather than as a better version of the same one.
CoinGate prints every fee line and settles euro over SEPA at no charge. Crypto.com Pay settles USD, EUR and AUD at a published half a percent. Both verify merchants, which is the other half of what changes.
If the unnamed company was the reason#
A provider that verifies nobody and names no jurisdiction is a difficult line in a due-diligence document, whatever the product's merits. Three of the four replacements name an entity; NOWPayments does not, and its card records that.
For a merchant staying non-custodial, Plisio is the nearest like-for-like and shares the gap. The choice there is between two providers that say little about themselves and differ on assets and features rather than on disclosure.
Where each replacement is genuinely better#
Plisio on named assets and white label: twelve counted assets including Monero, and a 1.5% white-label tier priced on the page. NOWPayments on breadth and the outbound direction: 350 assets and documented mass payouts. CoinGate on transparency and fiat. Crypto.com Pay on published fiat cost and integrations.
Each gives up something: Plisio the starting credit and Shopify, NOWPayments the lower rate, the custodial two the custody itself.
What the switch costs#
Almost nothing technically, since payments already land in your wallet and there is no balance to drain. The credit you prepaid is the one thing to check; the pricing page does not describe a refund of unused credit, so spend it down before switching rather than after.
Operationally the cost is whatever verification the replacement requires, which for the custodial picks is a documented KYB and for the non-custodial picks is undisclosed.
Before you move#
Count the assets your customers actually used over a year. If the list is short, Plisio's twelve are likely enough and the switch is small. If there is a tail, NOWPayments is the answer to that tail and the rate difference is the price of it.
Test an underpayment at the replacement before routing real traffic, because a provider that holds nothing and a provider that holds a balance handle it differently.
How to migrate from Paymento
- Spend the prepaid credit down. The fee is billed against a credit balance you topped up, and the pricing page describes no refund of unused credit. Stop topping up and let the remaining balance cover the final transactions before the cutover rather than leaving it stranded.
- Export orders and payment links. Download the order history and the list of active payment links from the dashboard. Links continue to resolve to your addresses only while the account exists, so replace any that are embedded in emails or documents.
- Confirm the replacement's custody model in writing. If you are moving to a custodial provider, ask where funds sit between payment and settlement and under which entity. If you are staying non-custodial, confirm the replacement settles to addresses you supply rather than to a hosted balance.
- Run both checkouts for one cycle. Payments already arrive in your wallet, so there is no balance to drain and no reason to cut over abruptly. Route part of the traffic to the replacement and compare confirmation timing and underpayment handling before removing the incumbent.
- Retire the embedded wallet if you used one. The embedded-wallet option creates a store wallet only you can authorise. Sweep it to an address you hold outside the provider before closing the account, since the pricing page describes no access to it afterwards.
Questions merchants ask
Why do merchants leave Paymento?
There is no fiat settlement, so a merchant that needs bank currency carries the price risk until it converts elsewhere. The company behind the product states no jurisdiction on its public pages, which matters for a merchant that must explain its providers to a bank. Both points were checked against the provider's own pages on 2026-09-06.
What is the closest alternative to Paymento?
Plisio is the closest substitute for most merchants: Merchants who want the same 0.5% non-custodial rate with twelve named assets, privacy coins and a published white-label tier. It scores 6.9 against 6.9 on the same published weights.
Is switching crypto payment gateway difficult?
A day to integrate, a month to trust. Move a slice of traffic first and keep the incumbent live throughout.
Will I lose payment history when I switch?
Only the part you cannot rebuild. Chain data survives; the Paymento invoice record has no published retention.
